Domaine de la Ronceray
Appellation : A.O.C. Saint-estèphe
History : The Domaine de la Ronceray, is an a little estate entierely created in 1963 with some meticulous attention by the owner .
Geographical situation and soil : The Domaine de la Ronceray is located with a privilegious situation on the great plateau of Saint-Estèphe on clayey chalk and stony subsoil.
The vineyard : Size of estate : 2 hectares vineyard. Grape varieties : 67% de Cabernet sauvignon, 3% de petit verdot, 30% de Merlot. The average age of the vines is 30 years.
Wine makeging : Harvesting is late to ensure full maturity, perfectly ripe and careful selection of the grapes on arrival at the hopper. Traditional vinification, the must being frequently run-off and recycled to ensure an even temperature during fermentation.
The wine is then aged in oak-casks (30-40% new each year), for around 15 months. Regularly racked and natural fined without filtration, it is bottled and stored in the underground cellar in ideal temperature and hydrometric conditions.
Wine carateristic : The Domaine de la Ronceray has a beautifull red and brillant color.
The noise is very complex and toasted whith leather.
All senses you have a clear attack with a good structure with supple and silky tannins.
At the end, an elegant and pleasant content with a beautifull harmony between the tannins and wood.
Production : 800 cases, or 9 600 bottles.
Others growth : The company also owns château Lavillotte, both in A.O.C. St-Estephe. And Château Le Meynieu in A.O.C. Haut-Médoc.
